New Genelec 8380A Premieres at Berlin Hip-hop Conference Beatcon
This year’s Beatcon took place in Berlin, Germany, from the 3rd to the 4th of October and marked the first stop of our ongoing World Tour for the newly launched 8380A — a three-way high-SPL SAM™ Main Monitor utilising innovative coaxial driver technology for exceptional accuracy and detail. Naturally, with the 8380 making its official world premiere, the excitement was high as we introduced the state-of-the-art monitors to attending press, industry peers, engineers, producers, and artists.
Beatcon, a conference and community event, supports both the creative and business sides of rap and hip-hop. The event brings together masterclasses, panel discussions and hands-on gear demos covering topics such as beat production, recording, mixing, mastering and music business — as well as workshops where beat-producers receive real-time feedback on their productions from established industry professionals, such as A&Rs and artists.
Genelec once again teamed up with our long-time friends at Dolby to create a dedicated immersive audio room, featuring a 7.1.4 Smart Active Monitoring setup comprising 8351B 'The Ones', a 7382A SAM Subwoofer and the 8380 Main Ones.
The Genelec Immersive Studio offered attendees an exclusive opportunity to experience their productions in a perfectly calibrated, professional listening environment. Over the course of two days, we hosted workshops on mixing in Dolby Atmos, a panel discussion on room acoustics, and daily Beat Listening Sessions, where leading producers and A&Rs provided feedback to more than 150 emerging beatmakers. The experience of hearing their music played back on the brand-new 8380A system in a fully immersive space quickly became one of the standout highlights of Beatcon 2025.
